Michelle Obama has been criticised for taking a group of girls from an inner city school to Oxford University and telling them that if they raise their aspirations and work hard, they can go there.

From an early age my son wanted to work in IT. He loves it and is very successful.

My nephew had to wait many years before he discovered that he wanted to be an electrician. He is now at college and on his way to success and satisfaction.

When I was a transportation planner I had someone working for me who I could not motivate. Then he was transferred to the traffic management team, which I thought very dull. He was put in charge of survey teams and suddenly he was in his element.
