Although most sayings have a truth within them, it can be fun to play with them and try the opposite. I once worked for a managing director who was very keen to say "Never expect of yourself what you would not expect of another." This is a really valuable saying for entrepreneurs and other self motivated people. Make sure that you treat yourself with respect.
I have my own version: "If it is to be; it is up to - someone else."
Another one I came up with recently is: "When the teacher is ready the student has left."
I wonder whether you can come up with any others. Please use the comment facility to submit them, or send to the editor. All contributions gratefully received.

I am delighted that Brefi Group associate Carol Newland has contributed an article on intentions as a follow up to a recent Coaching Notes article on The Law of Attraction by Esther and Jerry Hicks. The article covered three activities for discovering what you want and manifesting it:
Carol Newland and Sue Walsh, teach the law of attraction in their powerful WorkLife Architect programme. They offer clients a four step process to get clear about what they want and achieve it. It is described in their Coaching Notes article below.
We live in an exciting time. More than a hundred years ago Victorian religious beliefs were challenged by the Darwinian concept of evolution. With time, many people realised that they had confused biblical stories with factual statements. As coaches we recognise the power of metaphor in teaching and increasingly use stories as a tool for change. Now we face a similar challenge to our thinking as the implications of quantum physics seep into the public awareness. As more and more 'miracles'explained, we have a choice; either we conclude that if everything can be explained by science there is no higher force - or as science conquers more thresholds we increase our appreciation of the wonder that is the universe. It has always been so; and such arguments lead us to more discoveries about the nature of man and the nature of God.
It seems to me that a useful skill is the ability to hold two conflicting ideas at the same time. We do not have to resolve conflicts immediately and a powerful coaching approach is to replace 'but' with 'and'; to replace dilemma with integration. It is surprising what new opportunities such thinking reveals.
