I recently attended a presentation by Bruce Webster of Webster Consulting on the subject of "A sense of self", as applied to organisations.

He suggested that a sense of self helps: -

• stay at the forefront


• deal with rapid growth


• recruit more effectively


• retain people and clients


• identify merger partners and make mergers work


• identify and absorb acquisition targets


• make networks more cohesive


• and - know when to say no

A sense of self ensures that if you know who you are, then you know how to behave.

He suggests that organisations analyse the following: -

	Their world
Their audience		Their competition
	Their self

He also listed some tools that he used: -
