Sort and decide – only touch things once:
Work on your ‘forwardlog’
Instead of focusing on your backlog, focus on your ‘forwardlog’. Commit time to activities from Quadrant II that will ensure that not everything ends up as ‘urgent’.
Pick a job, task or project that is coming up in the future and do some small part of it today. Get into the habit of devoting part of the day, even just 15 minutes to working on your forwardlog. That way, when it gets nearer to the delivery date you will be ahead of yourself. As you do this more and more, the amount of time you have to devote to your backlog will fall.
Focus
Focus on your strengths, clarify your intentions and focus on what matters,
Leave time for the unexpected
Things happen! It is no excuse to say that you were not expecting something to turn up and distract you. You cannot know what is unexpected – but you can plan in some time for the unexpected things that are sure to happen!
