90-MinuteLearning Here are a few comments from the Tenth Annual Higher Ground Gathering organised by the Secretan Center.

We had a presentation from Dave Buck on his latest thinking about coaching. A new style for Dave, with an incredible story about his visit to India.

Here is a summary of how his model of coaching can respond to the issues of our time: -

Pervasive issue of our time	4 step coaching process	Fundamental questions
Confusion	Clarify focus	What is most meaningful to you? Why are you doing this?
Overwhelm	Personalised teaching	What do you do now? How do you do it?
Frustration	Expand Awareness	Why don't you do it? What could you do now? Why do you feel so stuck?
Isolation	Design environments	How do you build a deeper connection with your world? How do you create sustainable results without struggle?

I was very impressed with a comment Dave made about environment.

"Human beings adapt to environments . . and

Environments reflect who you are."

The trouble is that environments adapt slowly and we adapt quickly, with the result that if you return to you old environment after a personal change "The new you will quickly adapt to the old you". Unless you pro-actively take steps to change the environment.

I also attended a workshop on intention setting by George Fleming who asked a couple of key questions: -

Are you willing to be the person for whom this reality is true?

Are you willing to let go of an identity that stops this?

On the Sunday morning we had a recital by Shaina Noll. Shaina has built her own independent CD publishing company based on her own three CDs, without advertising or traditional promotion. Her first CD, Songs for the Inner Child, has sold more than 250,000 copies. It contains healing songs that are as powerful for adults as for young children; they address basic issues of self worth and healing.

Shaina sings them beautifully. You can listen to samples on her web site. As you listen, know that it is never too late to receive this kind of deep support. Music has the capacity to touch us in places that nothing else can. The child that lives inside of you can draw deeply from these songs, here and now, and be nourished and soothed by the energy they bring. Allow yourself to receive these songs intimately. Hear them as being sung just for you.
