What does Ian do?
Ian is an experienced executive and management coach, trainer and facilitator. He has been coaching executives and managers since 2003, initially within a large organisation and independently since 2008.
His specialism is working with busy executives and managers to develop skills of self and others-awareness, influencing, and maximising the contributions of the team.
A chartered engineer, his background originates in marine engineering but his 32-year career covers project management, contract management, safety and environmental internal regulation, organisational learning, and senior management.
As an internal regulator in the nuclear industry he became interested in human performance and it was during this period that he discovered his passion for understanding people, their behaviours and how to positively motivate them in a highly regulated environment. Consequently he took qualifications in coaching and mentoring with CIPD, and coached and mentored other senior managers in addition to his 'day job' until he left industry to start his own company.
Since then he has worked with middle and senior managers in the nuclear and communications industries, and Chief Executives in the NHS in areas of their personal effectiveness and self-awareness.
Having personal experience of the challenges of senior management, he is passionate about helping others to understand themselves and their teams, and making work both successful and rewarding.
